Fundraising and Supporter Development

We are the changemakers. Together we make a difference in the world

The Fundraising and Supporter Development Office is an integrated department with fundraisers in major and individual gifts, trusts and foundations and legacy giving. As well as supporting King's College London, we also fundraise for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust through a family of three charities - Guy's & St Thomas' Charity, Evelina London Children's Charity, and Guy's Cancer Charity - and fundraise for priority projects at King’s Health Partners, working closely with the Maudsley Charity.

By pooling our passion and fundraising expertise to support the university and our health partners, our potential and impact is maximised. Right now, we are exploring some of the most pressing UK and global challenges in health and society. Philanthropy plays a huge part in driving that change. With your financial support, experience and energy, we will make a difference to societies worldwide, making them healthier, wiser, safer, fairer and more just.

Our purpose & vision

Our purpose is to inspire, ask and enable people to give financially in support of the goals of King’s and King’s Health Partners (KHP). Our vision is to sustain and build philanthropy and continue the fundraising momentum achieved with the record-breaking World questions King’s answers campaign.

The work we support has made a significant impact on the world in areas as diverse as cancer research, global terrorism and palliative care. We have had great success in recent years and we want to build on that so our impact is even greater.

Our fundraising supports King’s, Guy’s and St Thomas’, and King’s Health Partners

King’s College London, one of the top 10 UK universities in the world, is a research-led and based in the heart of London. As the fourth oldest university in England, we have been driving progress in medicine, technology, the humanities, law and social sciences for nearly two centuries. At King’s, we recognise that we have a responsibility, ability and capacity to be part of shaping and transforming local communities and societies across the world. Population changes, depleted resources, rising inequality and the collapse of political consensus threaten progress in every field, on every continent. With world-class academic and clinical credentials, King’s can bring the best minds together to amplify and unlock these challenges. The discovery and structure of DNA; the development of radio, television, mobile phones and radar; the pioneering of antiseptic surgery and palliative care; and the development of new disciplines such as military mental health all sprung from King’s laboratories, clinics and classrooms. We have built our reputation by tackling these big issues with expertise, rigour and passion. Much of the impact we have had in the world has been made possible by philanthropic support.

Evelina London is a major children’s hospital and provider of community services. Every year, Evelina London cares for more than 95,000 children and young people in hospital and in the community, as well as providing an extensive range of specialist services for children with rare and complex conditions. The money we have raised has funded sophisticated medical equipment, innovative play therapy and helped children who have had a transplant to take part in the annual British Transplant Games.

Guy's Cancer is one of the UK’s leading providers of care and treatment for people with cancer. It is home to some of the best cancer specialists in the country, the very latest state-of-the-art facilities and pioneering treatments, thanks to extensive research programmes. For patients, most treatments are delivered in the state-of-the-art Cancer Centre at Guy’s. The money we’ve raised has funded an app that helps clinicians to determine whether a patient or their family has an inherited susceptibility to cancer, ground-breaking research into urology cancer and specialist equipment that allows nurses to view patients who require closer monitoring

Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals provide a full range of hospital services for their local communities in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. They also provide specialist services for patients from further afield, including cancer, cardiovascular, women's and children's services, kidney care and orthopaedics. They have one of the largest critical care units in the UK, one of the busiest A&E departments in London and are also two of London’s best-known teaching hospitals. The money we have raised has funded a 3D printer that helps staff plan complex transplant surgery, innovative training in complex procedures and a unique arts programme that helps patients, visitors and staff feel at home in the hospitals

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provides the widest range of mental health services in the UK. This includes more than 50 unique, national and specialist services, that people from all over the country can be referred to. The Trust also provides local community mental health services in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark as well as addictions (drug and alcohol) services across south London. The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London is at the forefront of global mental health research, transforming care for people who are affected by mental health and neurological conditions. Working together these organisations are uniquely placed to deliver care from bench to bedside, enabling the latest research to be translated into patient care in record time.
